The Ministry of Planning and External Cooperation (MPCE) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) held a working meeting to review commitments made in Washington. Discussions focused on internal displaced persons (IDPs), returning migrants, and the coordination of priority actions. Planning Minister Sandra Paulemon met with Grégoire Goodstein in a session dedicated to following up on commitments made to the IOM, continuing the dialogue held on April 15 in Washington with Amy E. Pope.
According to the information provided, the discussions aim to accelerate the implementation of priorities defined by Haitian authorities under government coordination. Both parties addressed the situation of internally displaced persons, particularly regarding registration mechanisms and population monitoring. Options such as return, resettlement, or integration were discussed as part of the proposed solutions.
The issue of returning migrants was also examined, with talks focusing on reception organization and community support. Socio-economic reintegration initiatives are currently being structured. The Minister indicated that coordination among partners is a central challenge for implementing public policies. She also mentioned the necessity of a multi-month action plan with clearly defined priorities to improve the effectiveness of interventions in the migratory field.
