The Dominican Republic has announced a contribution of 20 million US dollars intended for the Gang Repression Force (GRF) deployed in Haiti. The announcement followed discussions between Dominican authorities and the United Nations. On Friday, May 1st, Dominican Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez announced the funding following a meeting with Atul Khare. According to the information provided, an initial installment of 10 million dollars is to be paid immediately, with the remainder scheduled for later.
Dominican authorities indicate that this commitment is part of the efforts to support international security initiatives in Haiti. The Foreign Minister spoke about the importance of stability in Haiti for the region, according to statements reported by the EFE agency. The GRF is a force deployed in Haiti as part of an international framework supported by the United Nations. According to available information, its deployment began in April 2026, featuring the participation of foreign contingents.
