Strike: Customs activities set to resume

Customs operations are moving toward a full restart following an agreement to end the strike. Government sources confirmed that protesters committed to lifting the movement this Thursday, April 30, 2026, after a productive meeting involving the Director General of Customs, representatives of the strikers, and officials from the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

The strike was triggered by a misunderstanding regarding unpaid salaries for daily workers since October. Administrative errors in the appointment files sent to the HR office (OMRH) caused the delay, rather than a direct failure by current management. Officials admitted to a lack of timely communication but expressed satisfaction that the administrative hurdles are being cleared to allow for a return to normalcy.
