Éline Médastin, the legendary voice of the Haitian National Police communications department, passed away on the morning of Monday, May 4, 2026, at the Saint-Nicolas Hospital (HSN) in Saint-Marc. Hospitalized for about twenty days, Éline Médastin suffered a stroke (CVA) that required specialized medical care, Le Nouvelliste learned from the institution’s medical directorate. A police source revealed that the presenter of the Alo lapolis segment “suffered from diabetic complications.”

Doctors at Saint-Nicolas recommended the urgent transfer of Mrs. Médastin to another hospital center where a neurosurgeon could intervene. However, the authorities responsible for the official procedures stated that “unfortunately, time got the better of the police institution.” A career journalist, Éline Médastin worked at Radio Delta Stéréo and Radio Tête-à-tête in Saint-Marc before hosting the cultural programs “Au cœur de la France,” “Afrique en cadence,” and “Femme” on Radio Parisienne, where she featured guests from all over the country. A committed member of the Federation of Women of Lower Artibonite (FEFBA), “Éline Médastin was appreciated in all social circles for her general knowledge,” according to several local notables.

A member of the Police Communications Directorate (DIKOP) since 2007, “Éline Médastin’s voice is and remains emblematic,” noted one of her colleagues. “The police institution has already resolved to support the Médastin family through all stages of the funeral,” several PNH officials shared. Journalists’ associations, women’s organizations, and human rights groups expressed their “consternation” at the loss of this “courageous and virtuous woman.” Éline Médastin, a mother of four, passed away at the age of 51 and is being honored on social media as a worthy daughter of Saint-Marc.
