The Dominican government confirmed on Wednesday that Haitian businessman Dimitri Albert Edouard Vorbe will not be allowed to enter the country, contradicting a U.S. court decision that ordered his deportation to the Dominican Republic. The Ministry of Interior and Police stated that Mr. Vorbe has been under an entry ban since October 2025, following a directive from the General Directorate of Migration and the National Intelligence Directorate (DNI).
Vorbe is currently undergoing deportation proceedings from the United States after being arrested by ICE in September 2025 for alleged ties to armed gangs in Haiti. The Dominican Republic’s refusal to accept him creates a significant legal hurdle for the execution of the agreement reached between Vorbe’s defense and U.S. federal authorities. As the Dominican government cites national security concerns, the businessman remains in a legal limbo, as the third-country destination previously approved by the court is no longer an option.
