The Gang Repression Force (FRG) announced on Thursday, May 14, 2026, the arrival of Mongolian Major General Erdenebat Batsuuri, the newly appointed commander of the international force deployed to Haiti. With over 30 years of military command experience, General Batsuuri has served in eight UN and NATO peacekeeping and support operations, including deployments in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kosovo, Western Sahara, and South Sudan. Most recently, he served as the force commander for the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP).
The U.S. Embassy in Haiti welcomed the appointment, noting that General Batsuuri will lead a planned 5,500-man mission aimed at restoring stability and security. His arrival follows a high-profile inspection of the Tabarre base by Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé and PNH Director Vladimir Paraison. Currently, 700 troops are already on the ground. With General Batsuuri taking operational command alongside Special Representative Jack Christofides and United Nations Support Office (BANUH) representative Daniela Kroslak, the new international mission is now fully structured to spearhead operations against the country’s powerful armed groups.
