The Haitian Government announced on Friday, May 8, 2026, a reduction in the prices of two petroleum products on the domestic market. The decision was communicated following recommendations formulated by the Advisory Council for Petroleum Market Monitoring.
According to the institution’s spokesperson, Jacques Anderson Desroches, the price of a gallon of gasoline will drop from 725 to 700 gourdes, representing a reduction of 25 gourdes. Diesel is also experiencing an identical decrease, with its price falling from 850 to 825 gourdes per gallon. In contrast, kerosene remains unchanged and is held at 845 gourdes per gallon. Authorities specified that these new rates will take effect within 48 hours at service stations across the national territory.
This revision comes amid a context marked by international oil market fluctuations and the population’s expectations regarding the high cost of energy products.
