Gérald François officially assumed office as the new Departmental Delegate for the Ouest region on Friday, May 22, 2026. The installation ceremony took place at the Ministry of the Interior and Territorial Communities (MICT), led by State Secretary Sharina Lochard and Director General Pierre Canisius Guignard.
In his inaugural address, the newly appointed Departmental Delegate declared his commitment to turning the Ouest department into a beacon of resilience and hope. François outlined the primary pillars of his upcoming administration, placing immediate emphasis on public security, socio-economic recovery, and the logistical preparation for upcoming elections. He also issued an explicit call to the region’s youth, urging them to actively reject violence and contribute constructively to rebuilding the country’s social fabric.
