The General Administration of Customs announced a total revenue collection of 12,335,457,738.52 gourdes for the month of May 2026. The financial balance was presented on Wednesday, June 3, by customs executives during the broadcast of their monthly institutional outreach program, Let’s Talk Customs. Reginald Sévère, Director of Legal Affairs for the institution, noted that the monthly revenue reflects a 15.3% expansion compared to May of the previous fiscal year, representing an absolute increase of more than 1.6 billion gourdes. Furthermore, the performance shows a 16.3% growth rate compared to April 2026, successfully fulfilling 94% of the baseline collection targets established for the month by the Ministry of Economy and Finances.
In tandem with fiscal performance, enforcement operations saw a sharp increase across national entry points to protect the population and ensure fair competition. Micheline Déjour, Director of Oversight for the institution, provided details on several high-profile seizures completed across various regional offices. At the Malpasse Border Post, customs agents intercepted an illegal shipment of tactical uniforms, including 24 caps featuring the official logo of the Haitian National Police, 220 pairs of combat boots, and 280 tactical trousers, resulting in the arrest of three individuals.
Meanwhile, at the Port-au-Prince International Airport, officials confiscated two drones, 112 bottles of unregulated medication, 26 plastic firearm holsters, and 105 adult novelty items. Regional enforcement offices also reported significant outcomes, with agents seizing six firearms at the Gonaïves branch and intercepting a cache of one thousand rounds of 9mm ammunition at the port of Saint-Marc. Finally, at the Cap-Haïtien International Airport, inspectors discovered and seized 255,000 undeclared U.S. dollars from an incoming passenger, reinforcing the state’s strategy against illicit financial flows.
