A violent armed confrontation erupted on Saturday, June 13, 2026, between two rival criminal factions in the Belekou sector, located within the commune of Cité Soleil. Preliminary field reports confirm that multiple individuals lost their lives during the crossfire, which struck a highly populated residential area.

According to local sources, the deadly turf war broke out concurrently with a traditional rara musical parade. The cultural street procession had been organized by community members to gather soccer fans following the conclusion of the World Cup match between the Haitian national team and Scotland. Investigations are underway as law enforcement assesses the civilian casualties resulting from this latest surge in gang warfare, which continues to exploit local public gatherings.
