A Zimbabwean national suspected of arms trafficking and other serious crimes has been arrested in Pétion-Ville during an operation conducted by the Police Nationale d’Haïti (PNH).
According to the police communication unit (DICOP), Vundla Sikhumbuzo, who had been actively wanted since 2019, was apprehended on Thursday, March 26, 2026, by agents of the Direction Centrale de la Police Judiciaire (DCPJ).
The operation was carried out with support from specialized units, including the Brigade of Research and Intervention (BRI) and the Brigade for the Protection of Minors (BPM), based on an arrest warrant issued by investigating judge Noé Pierre-Louis Massillon.
Authorities report that the suspect faces multiple serious charges, including illegal arms trafficking linked to the Episcopal Church case, attempted murder, criminal conspiracy, and the alleged sequestration of his children, who were reportedly deprived of schooling for several years.
Following his arrest, Vundla Sikhumbuzo was transferred to judicial authorities, where he will answer to the charges brought against him.
The Police Nationale d’Haïti reaffirmed its commitment to combating crime and strengthening security across the country.
