Haiti’s National Police has come under scrutiny after a live broadcast on Télé Métropole involving its Director General, Vladimir Paraison.
During the program, Paraison invited a journalist to call the emergency number 38381111 on air, presenting it as operational. However, the call failed, with an automated message indicating that the number was not in service.
The clip quickly circulated on social media, triggering reactions and raising questions about the reliability of emergency response systems.
This incident comes amid ongoing security concerns, particularly in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area and the Artibonite department, where recent weeks have seen violence attributed to armed groups, leading to displacement and casualties.
In this context, public interventions by security officials continue to fuel debate over the effectiveness of responses to the country’s worsening security situation.
