The Minister of the Status of Women and Women’s Rights, Pedrica Saint Jean, advocated for the expansion of public healthcare initiatives centered on menstrual health education and the reduction of socioeconomic barriers to essential hygiene products. Saint Jean delivered the institutional address during her participation in a specialized regional workshop evaluating menstrual hygiene frameworks. The structural assembly was organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization office in Haiti and took place in Pétion-Ville, with the corporate attendance of UNESCO’s national representative, Éric Voli Bi.
The ministerial address highlighted the critical correlation between reproductive health resources and the broader defense of women’s rights and educational continuity for young girls. Minister Saint Jean emphasized that systemic inflation and supply chain issues compound the challenges of period poverty across provincial departments, urging a coordinated multi-sectoral strategy alongside international partners to secure sustainable access to sanitary products within the national academic system.
