Anti-gang operations intensified in Haiti between December 2025 and February 2026, according to the latest report of the UN Secretary-General. Anti-gang operations intensified in Haiti between December 2025 and February 2026, according to the latest report of the UN Secretary-General. The Haitian National Police (PNH), supported by the Haitian Armed Forces and the anti-gang force, carried out interventions in several strongholds in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince and its surroundings.

In total, 1,343 individuals suspected of belonging to gangs were killed during these operations, while 140 firearms were seized, according to data established by the UN Secretary-General. The report recorded 2,444 victims of intentional homicides over the same period. Approximately 64% of the victims were suspected of belonging to gangs, the report notes. These figures represent an increase of 22.8% compared to the previous period.

Security operations also caused casualties among the population: 158 individuals not affiliated with gangs were killed and 108 were injured. BINUH also reports at least 267 kidnappings, a figure relatively stable compared to the previous quarter. Over the entire year 2025, the report records 9,063 homicides, representing a rate of 76.13 per 100,000 inhabitants, one of the highest in the world. More than 90% of these crimes were recorded in the West, Artibonite, and Centre departments. Among these victims, 58% were suspected gang members, killed during police operations, clashes between armed groups, or actions by self-defense groups.
