The Association of Haitian Industries (ADIH), in a press release issued on Thursday, April 30, warns “once again” about the critical escalation of gang violence in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince, as well as in Artibonite and the Central Plateau. Calling for concrete measures, the association issued a stark warning regarding the objectives of the transition led by the Fils-Aimé government: “Without a swift return to security, any attempt at economic recovery or an electoral process is doomed to failure.”
“The Association of Haitian Industries (ADIH) warns once again about the critical aggravation of gang violence in the metropolitan region of Port-au-Prince, as well as in the departments of Artibonite and Centre,” reads the association’s press release dated Thursday, April 30, 2026.
“This insecurity is now paralyzing vital sectors: blocking of road networks, disruption of the movement of goods and services, shutdown of strategic rice production in Artibonite, and disruption of access to energy at the Peligre level,” the press release stated, emphasizing that “the national economy is at a standstill.”
