Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé is expected in Washington and New York in the coming days. He is set to hold discussions on the Anti-Gang Task Force (FRG) and on a broader extension of the Hope/Help Act, a well-informed government source told Le Nouvelliste on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.

The head of government is expected to meet with U.S. officials. The United States has played a key role in the creation of the FRG. The Prime Minister will also meet with the UN Security Council, the source added. Security needs are urgent. The main message is clear: Haiti is no longer in a waiting position. The country is taking action to strengthen the capabilities of its security forces. A total of 772 police officers have graduated, and another class is currently in training, according to the same source.

Le Nouvelliste also learned from another source that the FRG high command is already in Haiti. “The pre-deployment team composed of 48 Chadians is on the ground.” Between April and June 2026, around 700 Chadian personnel are expected in the country. Sri Lankan personnel are also expected, the source added. In terms of strengthening the Haitian National Police (PNH), around twenty armored vehicles are expected to be delivered in two phases between late April and early May.
