Former Nippes Senator Nenel Cassy appeared before Investigating Magistrate Jean Denis Cyprien this Thursday, June 11, 2026, to provide formal testimony regarding the ongoing judicial inquiry into the July 7, 2021, assassination of former President Jovenel Moïse. The deposition took place at the criminal instruction chamber in Port-au-Prince following a formal judicial summons issued earlier this month.
While maintaining legal confidentiality regarding the specific questions asked by the magistrate during the hearing, the former lawmaker forcefully condemned a red alert and search warrant recently issued against him by law enforcement agencies. Cassy categorized the police warrant as a highly coordinated, weaponized maneuver orchestrated exclusively by his political adversaries. He argued that the legal actions are entirely unfounded and designed to suppress his constitutional speech, damage his public standing, and secure his definitive “political death” within the domestic landscape.
