The Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development (MARNDR) and the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) signed a new memorandum of understanding on Thursday, May 21, 2026, aimed at improving rice, vegetable, and fruit production in Haiti. The official ceremony was attended by the Minister of Agriculture, Marcelin Aubourg, the Taiwanese Ambassador, Hu Cheng-Hao, and several senior officials from the agricultural sector.
First launched in 2018, this joint project aims to reinforce national rice production across the country’s primary agricultural regions. According to a ministry press release, the agreement also focuses on supporting the development of the fruit and vegetable supply chains to bolster food security and revitalize Haiti’s agricultural economy.
