The Professional Association of Magistrates (APM) has expressed grave concern regarding targeted threats and intimidation operations aiming at investigating Judge Jacky Jean and Chief Judge Fritzner Duclair. The hostility against the two judicial figures escalated following a court order that referred a litigant to a criminal trial court to face prosecution for an alleged attempted murder.
According to the APM internal assessment, the intimidation campaign worsened significantly following the subsequent death of the defendant while held in pre-trial detention. In an official press release published on June 1, 2026, the association declared that these hostile acts constitute a direct violation of judicial independence and jeopardize the physical security of law professionals. The APM firmly reminded the general public that any legal disagreement or challenge regarding a judicial decision must be pursued exclusively through the appellate mechanisms established by law, rather than through coercion, physical intimidation, or threats of violence.
