In a post on X, the Haitian National Police union (SPNH‑17) expressed deep concern over the thousands of citizens forced to flee their homes in the Cul-de-Sac Plain, which has been overrun by armed gangs. The union accused the Superior Council of the National Police (CSPN) of failing to stop the worsening security crisis and described a weakened PNH, despite the arrival of new personnel and equipment. The union is demanding accountability regarding the use of tanks, armored vehicles, weapons, and funds allocated to the force.
SPNH‑17 warned that a divided and demoralized police force will never be able to defeat the gangs. It called on the CSPN and the PNH General Directorate to act swiftly, cautioning that if immediate measures are not taken, they risk losing total control of the situation and their positions. This public outcry highlights the internal friction within the police force as ground-level officers demand more effective leadership and transparency in the ongoing battle against organized crime.
