The National Commission for Disarmament, Dismantling, and Reintegration (CNDDR) presented its new national roadmap during a high-level meeting with members of the diplomatic corps. The strategic plan prioritizes prevention, the reintegration of adolescents and youth, the promotion of justice, and collective mobilization against gang influence. Held with the support of the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH), the meeting emphasized the necessity of “Haitian ownership” and seamless inter-institutional coordination to ensure the success of DDR programs.
The roadmap serves as a common framework for international partners to align their support toward community violence reduction. By focusing on the root causes of recruitment, the CNDDR aims to provide social and economic alternatives for at-risk youth while strengthening the legal mechanisms needed to dismantle criminal structures. The commission highlighted that a unified strategy, led by national authorities, is the only sustainable path to restoring peace in neighborhoods currently dominated by armed groups.
