Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé presided over an official administrative ceremony at the Villa d’Accueil on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, marking the launch of the Haiti at the World Cup public initiative. Managed by the Ministry of the Interior and Territorial Collectivities, the state program will deploy over 700 comprehensive broadcasting bundles throughout the national territory. The operational objective is to enable citizens in the country’s most isolated municipal districts to watch live broadcasts of the national football team’s World Cup fixtures, a milestone celebration occurring exactly 52 years after Haiti’s historic first qualification in 1974.
The logistical breakdown provided by the Ministry of the Interior indicates that each rural communal section will receive an infrastructure bundle featuring a television set, a portable power generator, an internet connection modem paired with a one-month prepaid data subscription, a designated fuel allowance, and an analytical data drive programmed with public service announcements. Concurrently, the state will install large public screens equipped with commercial sound systems and live entertainment across sixteen major urban plazas nationwide, establishing centralized viewing stations in municipal hubs such as Port-au-Prince, Cap-Haïtien, Les Cayes, Jacmel, Jérémie, Gonaïves, and Hinche.
The specialized equipment rollout is being executed through a strategic partnership uniting the Ministry of the Interior, the National Federation of Haitian Mayors, and the National Federation of CASEC. During the assembly, municipal representatives expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for fulfilling budgetary pledges originally established during a nationwide territorial forum in December 2025. Prime Minister Fils-Aimé explicitly instructed local authorities to enforce strict asset management oversight, ensuring that these technological resources remain preserved and properly maintained for educational and community purposes long after the conclusion of the international tournament.
