The Prime Minister’s Office announced that Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé met on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, with Kristi Noem, Special Envoy for the “Shield of the Americas,” a regional security initiative supported by the Trump administration.
According to the statement, the meeting focused on key priorities for Haiti, including strengthening national security, consolidating institutional stability, and organizing credible, inclusive, and transparent elections.
The discussions also highlighted the importance of enhanced cooperation with regional partners to combat drug trafficking, transnational criminal networks, and challenges related to irregular migration.
The Haitian government views the initiative as a strategic tool to restore public order, strengthen institutional capacity, and rebuild public trust. It is also seen as part of a broader effort toward sustainable stabilization, essential for holding elections that meet democratic standards.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed Haiti’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships, while respecting its sovereignty, to ensure security, stability, and democratic consolidation.
