The Haitian Armed Forces (FADH) graduated 339 new soldiers on Tuesday, April 22, 2026, according to a source from the Ministry of Defense cited by Le Nouvelliste.
Among the graduates, 200 will receive special training to reinforce a task force. Another 100 will join the National Guard stationed in Clercine, tasked with securing the international airport area. The remaining group, about fifty soldiers, will likely be deployed as reinforcements in the Artibonite region.
Additionally, 570 applicants have already completed all tests and medical examinations and are awaiting deployment to begin their four-month training before field assignment.
Renovation work is ongoing at the Vertières base to accommodate new recruits by the third week of May. The objective is to reach between 2,500 and 3,000 new soldiers by the end of 2026, alongside the rehabilitation of the Anacaona base to expand training capacity.
Authorities also confirmed that military equipment orders have been placed and are expected to arrive soon. Regarding support to the Haitian National Police (PNH), around 200 soldiers are currently engaged in stabilizing reclaimed areas in downtown Port-au-Prince, including Pacot.
