The judicial investigation into the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse has taken a significant step forward with the formal summoning of two prominent political leaders. Investigating Magistrate Jean Denis Cyprien has ordered former President Michel Joseph Martelly and former Nippes Senator Nenel Cassy to appear before the criminal instruction chamber to provide additional testimony regarding the ongoing case.
According to court filings, former Senator Nenel Cassy is scheduled to appear before Judge Cyprien on Thursday, June 11, 2026, to provide supplemental information requested by the review court. Furthermore, former President Michel Martelly has been instructed to present himself for questioning on June 18, 2026, at 10:00 AM. These scheduled depositions are part of extended judicial efforts to clear unresolved elements surrounding the events of July 6–7, 2021, when a heavily armed commando raided the President’s private residence in Pèlerin 5, Port-au-Prince. The high-profile investigation continues to command widespread domestic and international attention, as a network of political operatives, police officials, and foreign nationals have already been indicted or jailed during the multi-year inquiry.
