The Ministry of the Status of Women and Women’s Rights (MCFDF) has issued a formal directive calling on judicial and law enforcement authorities to execute a transparent and thorough investigation into the alleged rape of a teenage girl in Jérémie, located in the Grand’Anse department. According to the ministerial press release, an active agent of the Haitian National Police (PNH), identified as Ronald Nelson, stands accused of sexually assaulting the minor inside the BAC sub-police station.
The institutional brief expressed deep concern over the severe breach of child protection standards and public trust, given that the alleged perpetrator is an officer sworn to uphold the law. Furthermore, the MCFDF highlighted secondary findings indicating that individuals associated with the suspect have allegedly attempted to financially leverage the victim’s family to secure their silence and suppress legal action. The Ministry urged the state prosecutor and the PNH General Inspectorate to fast-track the case to ensure judicial accountability and mitigate any further attempts at structural obstruction of justice.
