Starting May 10, 2026, fuel prices in Haiti will see a decrease of 25 gourdes per gallon. Diesel will drop from 850 to 825 gourdes, and gasoline will decrease from 725 to 700 gourdes, while kerosene remains unchanged at 845 gourdes. This decision follows a recommendation from the Petroleum Market Advisory Council, which analyzed international price fluctuations.
Council spokesperson Jacques Anderson Desroches noted that while diesel saw a 5.5% downward trend, international gasoline prices actually rose by 21%. Despite this, the Council proposed that the government maintain existing subsidies on gasoline to prevent social unrest, as it is the most widely used fuel by consumers. Under the decree of March 27, 2026, the Council is tasked with monitoring the market and proposing price adjustments whenever variations exceed 10% at the end of the month, aiming to balance public finances with consumer protection.
